Chicago in May

In May this year we set forth on a trip to Chicago, “the windy city”.  On day one we started in the Field museum of natural history sheltering from the rain, and were wowed by the exhibition on the people of America.

After that, the sun came out, and we spent time walking the parks and the free zoo which is fantastic!  Top things to do in Chicago include pulling faces in the ‘the bean’, admiring the beautiful Tiffany’s dome in the Chicago cultural centre and drinking cocktails at the top of the Hancock tower.  Going up on a cloudy day was incredible as it was so much quieter, and the clouds whirl around the tops of the other skyscrapers, which peek out from time to time and tempt you with a view.  The architecture boat tour is also a ‘must do’, describing the fascinating story behind all of the skyscrapers.

We also took a trip out of the centre on a double-decker train to the Morton Arboretum, where we were surprised by the beautiful wild flowers and even spotted a mink!
